1st PUC Physics Syllabus

According to the education system mandated by the Education Ministry of Karnataka Government, the students studying in Karnataka are required to undertake the Pre-University Course (PUC) or Pre-Degree Course (PDC) under the 10+2 education system followed in India. The course which resumes after class 10 or SSLC level is a two-year course that forms a prelude to the university degree that the students would undertake in the due course time. The PUC or Pre University Course is divided into two years, i.e., 1st PUC (1st year of PUC) or class 11 and 2nd PUC (2nd Year of PUC) or Class 12. The PUC is governed by the Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka.

Introduction to 1st PUC Physics

The Department of Pre University Education, Karnataka was formed in 1936 in order to manage and monitor the school-level education system of the state of Karnataka. This department manages and plans the syllabus, and mode of education and conducts regular examinations of the 1st PUC and 2nd PUC every year. Depending on the changing circumstances, the syllabus of the PUC courses and combinations are changed, modified or upgraded every year.

Students have the option of taking up Science, Commerce and Arts streams for The PUC Examinations depending on their interests and future plans. As students, we have the option of choosing among various subjects and combinations from a particular stream. For example, if we take up the science stream, we have an option to choose Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology as our combination. In this case, the students need to choose the 1st PUC Science PCMB Syllabus and prepare themselves according to the latest syllabus as prescribed by the Department of Pre-University Education.

Along with the PCMB or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology combination, students can also choose from options of other subjects such as Home Science, Computer Science, Electronics, and Geology. However, a student choosing to pursue the 1st PUC Science Syllabus needs to study Physics as a compulsory subject. Physics and Chemistry from the basic science subjects that we need to choose in order to study science.

PUC Examination conducted by The Department of Pre-University Education under the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) is commensurate with the Indian standards of education followed in other states of India. The PUC syllabuses also are mapped to find a significant match with the globally accepted standards of education. All the courses and subjects are planned to take into consideration the latest trends in the field of study. In fact, KSEEB and the Department of Pre-University Education also try to reduce the unnecessary syllabus in order to maintain the focus of the students on the core topic of the subjects. Students are therefore requested to download and understand the specific KSEEB 1st PUC syllabus of each subject as mentioned by the Department of Pre University Education for the concerned year before planning their course of study.

The students willing to take up PUC Science need to go through the 1st PUC Physics chapters of Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board, along with all the other subjects of their PUC combination. The Physics 1st PUC Syllabus of KSEEB has been reduced in recent years where some of the chapters and areas of studies have been reduced from the ongoing syllabus. The 1st PUC Physics Syllabus includes around 15 units including chapters on Physical World, Laws of Motion, Motion in a Straight Line, Motion in a Plane, Hydrocarbons, Mechanical Properties of Fluid, Units and Measurement, among others.
